“Glorified be He who carried His servant by night from the inviolable place of worship (Makkah) to the far distant place of worship (Al-Aqsa), the environs whereof We have blessed, that We might show him of our signs! Lo! He is the all-hearing, the all-seeing” (Quran 17:1). Al-Isra wal-Miraj marks one of, if not the most salient event of the revelatory experience of the Prophet of God (SAW).
